Process and Outcome

Process and Outcome in College Admissions

In counseling students on their path to college, outcome, of course, matters: where a student gets admitted, where they attend. But equally important is the process to reach that outcome.

The college application process can be isolating because the most efficient, effective way to go about it is to keep on going down your critical path while ignoring the other candidates and the noise they are making. That’s why it’s great for students to have a counselor focused only on them!

At IvyMaven, I make it my business to stay fully informed on the colleges, with constant research and conversations with colleagues and admissions personnel and more. I visit campuses frequently and keep abreast of the offerings at a wide variety of excellent schools. But in my meetings with students…

I aim to foster a dialogue directed toward self-examination, going beyond the question, “Where can you get in?” in favor of the more essential one: “What are the things that matter to you as you launch into the next four years of your life?”

I provide individualized attention to gently guide and support a teen’s self-discovery process, up through that rite of passage known as “the college application process.” I provide a safe and creative haven for teens to explore the path that makes most sense for them on the road to leaving home for college.

As a haven for teens and families who need help with the confusing maze of college admissions, I also provide a wealth of information and insight about each school, majors, programs, scholarships, standardized testing, and more. As relevant, and carefully curated for your needs.

We’ll pay close attention to applying to colleges where you can be most productive, happy, successful. We’ll also pay close attention to how you strategically present who you are, your accomplishments and goals, so that your chosen colleges will be hard-pressed to pass you up!

I’ll also teach you and yours how to be informed consumers in the world of higher education. College affects the rest of a teen’s life. It’s a crucial decision, and I aim to help.
